Debutante Tionae Copeland (Hertford High School), Debutante Zariah Wright (Churchland High School), Debutante Tiarra Wyche (I.C. Norcom High School), Debutante Saniyah Jackson (King’s Fork High School), Debutante Ariyanna Evans (Smithfield High School), Debutante Kalie Howard (Nansemond River High School)

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated – Epsilon Theta Zeta Chapter recently hosted its 54th Annual Debutante Scholarship Program, a longstanding tradition dedicated to empowering youth through education, service, and personal development.

As part of the program, participating students took part in a series of workshops designed to prepare them for college and life beyond high school. Topics included financial aid, building and maintaining credit, and effective money management. In addition to their academic and professional development, students also engaged in community service by volunteering with the sorority to clean and maintain Planters Park.

This year’s participants represented Churchland High School, Hertford High School, I.C. Norcom High School, King’s Fork High School, Nansemond River High School, and Smithfield High School. Alongside their parents and mentors, the students spent three months actively fundraising for scholarships, ultimately raising more than $21,000 to support their higher education goals.

For over five decades, the Suffolk Zeta Chapter has remained committed to supporting graduating seniors through mentorship, scholarship opportunities, and leadership development. The Debutante is one of several annual initiatives aimed at encouraging academic excellence, positive conduct, and career readiness while easing the financial burden of college.

The culminating ceremony was held on April 25th, 2025, at HUB757. During the event, Zariah Wright was crowned Debutante Queen. The chapter extends heartfelt thanks to all families, mentors, and sponsors who contributed to the success of this year’s program.
