Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated - Epsilon Theta Zeta Chapter organized a hybrid Debutante Season for the 2021-2022 school year. Students participated virtually in workshops to assist with the preparation of their postsecondary education and life. The workshops touched on the subjects of internet etiquette and building credit. 2021’s Debutante Queen, Alayshia Myrick, led a discussion about the college experience during the College 101 workshop. Participating students hailed from Western Branch High School and Hampton High School. The students, along with their parents and mentors, worked for three months raising money for their scholarships. Over $4,000 was raised in scholarship funds.
Over the last 51 years, the Suffolk chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority has continually aided high school seniors with fundraising and professional development. The sorority consistently pushes the participants to maintain good merit, grades and behavior while pursuing his or her studies and professional careers. The program is one of the many activities sponsored by the sorority to raise funds for the annual scholarship fund, which is used to help worthy young people meet their financial obligations while enrolled in institutions of higher education.
For the first time in three years the chapter was able to hold an in-person Debutante Presentation. The presentation was held at the First Lady of Suffolk on May 6, 2022. Avé Crews was crowned queen of the event and Tiffany Fuller was crowned princess of the event. The Epsilon Theta Zeta Chapter thanks the parents, mentors, and donors who assisted the program participants.
